Noun. A state of misfortune or affliction.
Life is full of struggles and hardships. However, if you work hard to make your life meaningful and strive for the best, then the adversity will always be worth the grievance.
With that said, I in no way believe that everything happens for a reason. People talk about fate and destiny. Well, I think that's all bullcrap. The only person in charge of their fate is themself. Two people aren't going to end up being together because it's ''what fate has in store for them.' Two people are going to be together because that's what they choose. I think that certain events happen in ones life that help point them in new or better directions, but fate doesn't have its own say in it. Destiny is just some dumb made-up word that should be executed from existence. If destiny were real, then it should play a part in everyone's life. Not just in those sappy love stories we all hear about. I doubt that Hitler was ''destined'' to start a holocaust.
Good and evil. Just because something isn't good, doesn't make it fiction. If I were religious, I couldn't believe in God and just not believe in the Devil. As much as we as humans would like our minds to be able to function that way, they don't. As much as people wish evil was extracted from the universe, it isn't. So we live with it. And then make up words like ''fate'' and ''destiny'' to deal with it. And say things like ''everything happens for a reason'' to help us cope with adversity. And that's okay, as long as people don't lose sight of what is real and what is not.
What I do, to the core of my soul, believe in is faith. If you have faith then you can deal with anything. And by that I don't mean faith in just God or the Devil (if that's the way you swing), but faith in anything. I have faith in people; people to teach me anything and everything I want/need/should know. I learn from others' mistakes and good-fortune; from their sadness and happiness. I wouldn't be at all the person I am today if I didn't have so much faith in humanity. Believe in what you have faith in being true, and that will help you live the life you want to believe you're ''destined'' to live.

Good point. I have thought about this before...The whole fate thing. Because for examples...A person's FIRST marriage...Is that the person they were destined to be with? No, clearly if it didn't end up working out the first time. Same as I don't believe in having one soul-mate out there. WRONG. Also, almost everything in life is a CHOICE....Good points Marj and so your style...
